Individual Career Counseling - Meet with a career counselor one-on-one to discuss concerns and needs related to your major and/or career plans. (By appointment)
Career Assessments - Interest inventories and career-planning instruments are available to assist in determining majors and career options. (By appointment and fees may apply)
Resume Development - Meet with a staff member for assistance with the development and critique of your resume. (By appointment).
Mock Interviews - Sharpen your interviewing skills by participating in a practice interview with one of our staff members. (By appointment)
Career Resources - We have a wide variety of resources in our library available for you to gather information required for your job search, resume development, etc. Computers are available for your use to research or seek additional information on various research websites.
Workshops - Presentations are provided in areas such as resume development, successful interviewing, and conducting a job search.
On-Campus Recruiting - UMKC students are encouraged to participate in our on-campus recruiting each school year.
Job Listings - UMKC's CareerExec Employment Database lists a variety of full-time/part-time jobs and internships availiable in the Kansas City Metropolitan area as well as nation wide.
Career Fairs - UMKC Career Services hosts several career fairs throughout the year. This is an excellent chance to meet with potential employers one-on-one and learn more about career opportunities in the KC area.
Virtual Career Fairs - In addition to meeting recruiters in person at the employer fairs, you can also view their available positions through our Virtual Career Fair. Virtual Career Fairs run in conjuction with the Heart of America and Greater Kansas City Employer Fairs.
Teacher Recruitment - UMKC Career Services works with the UMKC School of Education in preparing teacher candidates for future teaching opportunities, including special events specific to education majors.
Services Fee Schedule
With the exception of a career assessment processing fee, services for UMKC students, alumni and faculty/staff members are free. Also, current non-UMKC students who are prospective students will not be charged a fee.
Services for community members are fee based. The first appointment is free; fees will be assessed after initial meeting.
