    Beth Medley joined UMKC Career Services team in Fall 2007. Previously, Beth was the Associate Director of the Career Services and Cooperative Education office at the University of Evansville in Indiana. Beth has a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

    Beth is responsible for coordinating internship reporting systems, experiential education related workshops and events, and developing marketing strategies to encourage students’ engagement in their career planning process early in their academic process. Beth is also active in the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers, and Kansas Association of Colleges and Employers.

    Annette Haynes has been a UMKC employee for 36 years. She served as an adviser in the Business School for most of 17 years and has been manager in the career services office for 18 years. She is responsible for on-campus recruiting, employer relations, educational placement and coordination of career activities in the Bloch School and SCE. She has done classroom and outside presentations in many areas of career development. She has an undergraduate degree in elementary education from Mizzou, and a master’s degree in counseling from UMKC. She has served on many campuswide committees over the years and has been involved with the Alumni Board at the School of Education, is a member of the UMKC Alumni Association.

    In addition, she has served in leadership roles in statewide organizations and has participated in national conferences. She is a member of Kansas Association of Colleges and Employers, National Association of Colleges and Employers, American Association of Employment in Education, Missouri Association of School Personnel Administration, and American Association of Employment in Education.

    Sandi Dale has been with UMKC Career Services since September 2004. Prior to that time, she was Director of Career Services at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. Sandi works with the Career Specialist Program, with the Administrative Interns and teaches career and life planning courses. She also meets with students and community members to assist them with their career development needs. Sandi conducts presentations on choosing a major, resume writing, interviewing, job search and all other aspects of career exploration/development.

    Sandi has a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services from Emporia State University, a Master of Science in Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Kansas and a Master of Arts in Psychology from Saint Mary College. Her memberships include: Kansas Association of Colleges and Employers, National Association of Colleges and Employers; Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators, National Student Employment Association and the Kansas City Association of Psychological Type.

    Dustin Williams has a dual Bachelors degree in Psychology and Sociology as well as a Masters degree in Counseling with an emphasis in couples and family therapy, both from University of Missouri – Kansas City. He started in the UMKC Career Services office as an intern and became a full time coordinator in January of 2007. Dustin works with students at all levels to help them work through their career angst. In addition he works with students struggling to find majors, unravel their work related problems, and speaks to groups on the wide range of Career Related topics.

    Janet Dexter has been with UMKC Career Services since February 1996. She is the Fiscal Officer for the department and assists with the coordination and planning of special events.

    Roslyn Powell is an Administrative Assistant at UMKC Career Services. She is responsible for assisting patrons with all aspects of the services offered. She is responsible for setting up appointments and scheduling times for students to visit with the career counselors. Roslyn is currently working on a degree in Liberal Arts.

    She is married, has one child, and is very active in her church. Her past work experiences are with Kansas City, Missouri schools, where she was employed for seven years, and with the UMKC School of Education Urban Leadership and Policies Program for 2 ½ years.

    Julia is excited to intern with Career Services! She is a graduate student in UMKC’s Counseling & Guidance program and has a couple years experience assisting victims of domestic violence at local Kansas City agencies. Julia continues to work at a domestic violence shelter and appreciates the well-rounded experiences she is obtaining through her career and academic work. When she is not doing homework, Julia enjoys painting and dinner parties. Julia also enjoys traveling, gardening, and listening to community radio stations. She is interested in how career and personal issues intersect and knows she will learn a lot at Career Services!
