General Services and Information

Your student has access to comprehensive career services at UMKC. The mission of our center is to serve as a resource for and to empower students to successfully develop, evaluate, and initiate individual career planning and personal development throughout their lives. We focus on helping students refine the skills and personal marketing techniques that employers and graduate/professional schools are looking for in successful candidates.

Individual career counseling, career assessments, resume development, mock interviews, career resources, workshops, on-campus recruiting/interviews, employment database (CareerExec.com), career fairs, and virtual career fairs are some of the services and resources available to your student.

Your student has unique needs and will require an individualized career plan to help your student achieve his or her career goals. Encourage your student to schedule an appointment with UMKC Career Services to identify what services will help him or her along their journey.

Information regarding job outlook is also available at UMKC Career Services. The National Association of Colleges and Employers publishes a yearly job outlook survey (Job Outlook 2007) to forecast the hiring intentions of employers as they relate to new graduates. Also, the Occupational Outlook Handbook provides occupational information, trends and employment information such as average annual job openings and median annual earnings. Please check back to this Web site for more specific UMKC information soon.
